OUSA Cologne branch annual general meeting (AGM) 2010

Saturday, 14th November, 10.30 am – 12.30 pm

Beginning of Year student meeting

Here you will have the opportunity to meet other students, to meet the Business School AL, Alexa Babington-Schneider, and myself. You will also have the opportunity to find out more about The Open University Student Association (OUSA). One of the great benefits of a meeting like this is that you will discover that many of the obstacles you foresee in studying will be shared by the majority of students. This is a good forum to discuss any apprehensions you may have.

The Open University - Revision & Exam Workshop

Many of you will be approaching the end of your course. Perhaps you are starting to think about the examination in October? To help you prepare your approach to your exam Dr Liz Manning, Head of Services for Younger Students and Assistant Director, The Open University in the North, would like to invite you to a workshop about Revision and examination strategies.

This will cover a range of topics concerning preparing for your examination and actually writing it. We plan to include areas such as revision timetables, actively revising, avoiding common mistakes made in examinations and planning your time during the examination itself.

Please note that this workshop is not just for students who are sitting their first examination with us. Continuing students are most welcome to come along and share their experiences.

Tuesday 22nd April 2008

Dr. Marion Bruhn-Suhr and Jackie Schüller (both OU Coordinators in Germany), Birgit Klaus and Stefan Jauernig (both OUSA) will have a meeting with the Bezirksregierung Köln branch in Aachen, to discuss the German Bafög which is now also available for OU-Students who are resident in Germany.

Should you have any questions please feel free to mail Stefan Jauernig.

Apart from meeting the new committee and having social contacts you have the chance to ask Stefan about the new regulations of the German “Bafög” (http://www.bafoeg.bmbf.de/)in force since January 2008. The “Bezirksregierung Köln” is now responsible for all students in Germany who are studying at any British university and Stefan organizes a meeting (together with Marion Bruhn-Suhr, OU Coordinator in Hamburg) later this year with the Bezirksregierung Köln to introduce the OU at the Bezirksregierung.
